TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State volleyball and beach volleyball teams both earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 season, the AVCA announced.

To be eligible for recognition, the team must maintain a 3.30 team GPA. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the indoor volleyball team has been recognized by the AVCA.

The Sun Devils are one of three Pac-12 schools to be recognized for their indoor volleyball academic accomplishments, along with Oregon State and Stanford, and one of two Pac-12 schools to be recognized for their beach volleyball accomplishments, along with Stanford.

Following the 2014 season, the Pac-12 Conference recognized a record eight volleyball student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, with Shannan McCready and Kizzy Ricedorff (Willey) named to the first team. Genevieve Pirotte was named to the second team, while Bianca Arellano, Bree Bailey, Whitney Follette, Macey Gardner, and Andi Lowrance, were named to the honorable mention list.

ASU will open the 2015 volleyball season at the Falcon Classic, Aug. 28-29, in Colorado Springs, Colo., against Northeaster, New Mexico State, and Air Force.
