CEDAR CITY, Utah – Starting out the day dancing to Shake It Off, the Arizona State women’s gymnastics team used that as inspiration to finish strong in a meet plagued by injuries and lack of depth. With only four athletes to compete on three of the four events, the Sun Devils fell to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 195.925-162.325, Friday, in Cedar City, Utah.

Knowing the line-up was already sparse, head coach Rene Lyst made the decision to compete only four athletes on vault, beam, and floor to ensure the health of the entire team.

Junior Stephanie Miceli provided a bright spot on the night for the Sun Devils, winning the all-around title with a score of 38.600. Miceli anchored ASU on beam and finished in a tie for second on the event with a score of 9.825. Sophomore Beka Conrad also provided strong scores for the Gym Devils with a team-high 9.750 on bars and a score of 9.725 on beam.

Next up, the Sun Devils return to Wells Fargo Arena for Senior Night and the combined Men’s meet on March 13 against Air Force at 7 p.m. MT. Arizona State will send off seniors Brianna Gades, Morgan Steigerwalt, and Natasha Sundby.
