TEMPE, Ariz. – Three players scored in double-figures and the No. 13 Arizona State women’s basketball team overcame a cold shooting start to defeat the visiting Oregon Ducks 70-58 on Friday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.

Katie Hempen scored 11 points to lead the Sun Devils (18-1, 7-0 Pac-12), who won their 14th straight game (one short of tying school record). Elisha Davis had 10 points and nine assists and Promise Amukamara added 10 points and four assists.

Jillian Alleyne finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way for Oregon (8-10, 1-6).

“I just love this team,” head coach Charli Turner Thorne said. “I thought we just fought and our defense kept us in there, and in the second half we got our offense going.”

ASU started out 4-19 from the field and trailed 17-9 after a layup by Alleyne with 8:47 remaining in the opening half.

The Sun Devils countered with a 12-2 run, tying the game at 19 after the second of back-to-back threes from Davis, and taking a 21-19 lead after a Amukamara fast break layup with 5:33 left in the first half.

ASU shot just 9-33 (27 percent) in the first half, but forced 11 Oregon turnovers and only trailed the Ducks by two, 27-25, heading into halftime.

“Games like these are why you work so hard on defense,” Turner Thorne said. “We got great looks in the first half and nothing fell. “

The lid seemed to come off the basket for the Sun Devils in the second half, as they ripped off a quick 10-0 run to take a 35-27 lead with 17:08 left to play.

ASU stretched its lead to as many as 20 and held the Ducks to 11-26 shooting (42 percent) in the second half.

Up next for the Sun Devils is a showdown with No. 9 Oregon State on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT at Wells Fargo Arena. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks and can be heard on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060.
