Record Updates

In its 102nd season of competition, Sun Devil Football’s all-time record is 581-372-24. ASU is 21-6 in the past 27 games, the second-best record of all Pac-12 teams in the most recent 27-game span behind only Oregon (22-4). 

On the Road

Coach Graham is 10-6 at Arizona State in true road games, including 9-4 in conference road games. In four seasons prior to Todd Graham, ASU was 5-13 in conference road games. The Sun Devils had previously won seven straight road games. 

In four seasons prior to Todd Graham, ASU was 5-13 in conference road games while Graham has led the squad to a 9-4 record in such games in his three seasons at the helm. ASU had eight road wins in the entirety of the previous coaching regime 2007-11.

Against The Beavers

ASU fell to 26-14-1 all-time against the Beavers, and is now 6-10-1 at Reser Stadium and have lost five straight in Corvallis.

Leading At The Half

The loss was ASU’s first under Todd Graham after leading at the half. ASU was 23-0 entering the evening.

Second Quarter Success

ASU outscored OSU 14-0 in the second quarter tonight and have outscored opponents 70-23 in the second quarter in the past six games.

Red Zone

ASU went 3-for-4 inside the red zone and has now scored on 42 of its 47 trips inside the red zone this season.

#TooStrong

Wide receiver Jaelen Strong finished with nine catches for 103 yards, marking his first 100-yard game since USC and his fourth of the season. His 11 career 100-yard receiving games are third most in school history behind Shaun McDonald (12) and Derek Hagan (18). 

Strike Fast

With two scoring drives under three minutes (1:05 and 1:17, respectively), 155 of ASU’s 211 offensive scoring drives under offensive coordinator Mike Norvell have come in three minutes or less (73.4 percent). Of ASU’s 56 scoring drives this season, 43 have come in under the three-minute mark.

Receiving Backs

All six completed passes by the Sun Devils in the first quarter went to a running back, including five to D.J. Foster and one to Demario Richard. ASU’s running backs combined for nine receptions and 94 receiving yards in the game.

Kohl World

Kohl’s 46-yard touchdown catch was his career-long and it was the longest play to a Sun Devil tight end this season. Kohl’s previous career-high was 16 yards.

Kelly Record Watch

Kelly became just the fourth player in ASU history to pass for more than 8,000 career yards and now has 8,203 yards after finishing the game with 264 passing yards.

Kelly became just the third player in ASU history with 70 or more touchdown passes and now has 71 touchdowns after passing for two tonight.

Kelly is responsible for 504 points in his career after accounting for 12 tonight, and moved into sole possession of second all-time at ASU in career points responsible for (passing Rudy Carpenter at 498).

Kelly rushed 15 yards tonight to become the first quarterback in school history to rush for more than 1,400 yards. He holds the school record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,411.

Kelly Notes

Kelly has now punted 21 times in his career with 16 of those being downed inside the 20, including six of seven this season. 

Kelly now has a touchdown pass in all but four games in his career (30 of 34).  

#FosterFacts

Foster’s touchdown reception near the end of the first quarter marked the 11th of his career, which is the most among all active FBS running backs. 

Foster now has a reception in 37 consecutive games, the 10th-longest active streak in the FBS and every game he has played as a Sun Devil.

Foster tallied 116 all-purpose yards, including 51 on the ground and 65 through the air, and has now gone over the 100-yard mark in five games this season. 

Defense

Hybrid, Attacking Defense

The Sun Devils have forced 81 turnovers under coach Graham in the past three seasons, which is the fifth-highest total in the country in that span.

Randall Time

Safety Damarious Randall picked off Sean Mannion midway through the first quarter to record his second interception of the season and the fifth of his career.

Longino’s Fumble Recovery

Linebacker Antonio Longino’s 36-yard fumble return for a touchdown was ASU’s first since 2012 when Junior Onyeali had one also against Oregon State in Corvallis. ItIt also marked the fourth defensive touchdown of the season for ASU and the 13th scored by coach Graham’s defense at ASU (11 interception returns, two fumble returns).

Hardison's Impact

Defensive lineman Marcus Hardison led the Sun Devils with a pair of sacks and added a forced fumble and a two-yard tackle for loss.

Hardison now has six sacks in his past four games (two at UW, 1 vs Utah, 1 vs ND, 2 at OSU) and leads the team with eight this season. He also leads the team with 10 tackles for loss this season. 

Capitalizing On Turnovers

ASU scored three points off Randall’s interception and seven points off Mannion’s fumble, and has now outscored opponents, 90-48, this season in points off turnovers.

Oregon State Successs

Oregon State running back Storm Woods’ 78-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the longest rushing touchdown the Devils have given up this season and the longest since Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon’s 80-yard touchdown run Sept. 14, 2013. It was the second-longest scoring play against the Sun Devil defense behind UCLA’s Eldridge Massington’s 80-yard touchdown reception Sept. 25.

ASU allowed two 100-plus yard rushers for the first time since USC’s Tre Madden and Justin Davis rushed for 130 and 128 yards, respectively, on Sept. 28, 2013.

After scoring first in each of the first eight games of the season, ASU has now been scored first on in each of the past two games (vs. Notre Dame, at Oregon State). The 14 points ASU allowed in the opening quarter was the most the Devils have given up in the first quarter this season.
