Sun Devil Wrestling finished in second place at the 2016 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships at Wells Fargo Arena on Feb. 27. Senior Blake Stauffer defended his title at 184 lbs., fellow senior Josh DaSilveira won the title at 197 lbs. and junior Dalton Brady claimed the 133 lbs. title. In addition to Stauffer, DaSilveira and Brady, three other Sun Devils punched their tickets to the NCAA Wrestling Championships at Madison Square Garden in New York City, March 17-19. Sophomore Robbie Mathers finished in third place at 141 lbs., senior Matt Kraus took second at 149 lbs., and freshman Tanner Hall placed third at Heavyweight.
At the NCAA Wrestling Championships the Sun Devils collected nine wins and 9.5 team points to finish 36th overall and 3rd among Pac-12 teams. Hall and Stauffer claimed three victories each while DaSilveira, Kraus, and Brady each recorded one victory. Sun Devil Wrestling continued to build momentum throughout the 2015-16 season which included four top 25 dual victories. Under the leadership of head coach Zeke Jones and with Tanner Hall paving the way, the nation's No. 1 ranked 2015-16 recruiting class is now primed for a breakout season in 2016-17.
