Stanford, Calif.—Arizona State senior Noemi Jimenez recorded her second top-10 finish of the season at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday. After shooting a final round 72 at the par-71, 6,130-yard Stanford Golf Course, Jimenez tied for ninth with a 3-under 210 (68-70-72).
"Noemi had another solid performance, even though she did not have her best ball striking in the last two rounds," said ASU head coach Melissa Luellen. "Her attitude and belief in herself to make something happen is so strong! Her shortgame truly kept her in the top 10."
Sixth-ranked Southern California shared the team title with No. 4 Stanford. The Trojans and the Cardinal edged out No. 10 UCLA by one stroke, both finishing with a 15-under 837 through 54 holes. The Bruins’ Bronte Law finished on top for the third-straight day, taking home the individual title with an 8-under 205. The Sun Devils recorded their first top-10 finish of the season, nabbing 10th place with a 19-over 871 (288-293-290).
"As a team we have work to continue to get better every day and every tournament," said Luellen of the team's 10th place finish.
Once again, freshman Roberta Liti improved her score from the previous round. After posting a 73 and a 72 in the first two rounds, Liti golfed an even par 71 on Sunday. Through 54 holes, Liti was 3-over 216 (73-72-71), tying her for 31st.
After struggling in Saturday’s round, sophomore Monica Vaughn got her groove back on Sunday. Her final round 71 gave her a tournament total of 6-over 219 (71-77-71), tying her for 47th.
Senior Emilie Alonso got off to a slow start, carding a double bogey on hole 10 to kick of the final round. Alonso did not find her rhythm until the front nine, where she was 1-under. With a three-round total of 13-over 226 (76-74-76), Alonso finished in 65th place.
Rounding out the Sun Devil lineup is sophomore Saki Iida. Iida improved her score from the second round, shooting a 5-over 76 on Sunday. Iida tied for 78th with a 19-over 232 (76-80-76).
Next up, the Sun Devils compete in the Pac-12 Preview at the Nanea Golf Course in Kohala, Hawai’i. The tournament will take place Nov. 3-4.
