Orlando, Fla.—Noemi Jimenez recorded her first top-five finish of the 2014-15 season when she tied for fifth at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Arizona State senior finished at 4-under 212 (71-71-70) on the par-72, 6,247-yard Watson Course at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The South Carolina Gamecocks took home both titles on Tuesday. At 10-under 854, South Carolina finished seven strokes ahead of second-place Arizona. Sitting in first place after two rounds, the Gamecocks’ Justine Dreher held on for the win, edging out Duke’s Leona Maguire by one stroke for the individual title. Shooting an 18-over 882, the Sun Devils tied for 11th with Vanderbilt.
In her best round of the tournament, Jimenez shot a 2-under 72 and carded four birdies on Tuesday. Golfing consistently under par throughout the weekend, Jimenez’ performance bodes well for the rest of her senior season.
Sophomore Monica Vaughn also finished in the top 25, carding a tournament total of 3-over 219 (71-73-75). As a freshman, Vaughn tied for 58th in the first tournament of the 2013-14 season. Her 25th-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate hints that Vaughn will be a key player in the Sun Devil lineup this season.
After struggling to find her rhythm on Monday, freshman Roberta Liti rebounded in the final round. Carding three birdies, Liti shot a 1-under 71, giving her a three-round total of 9-over 225 (75-79-71) and tying her for 47th.
Freshman Sophia Zeeb also improved her score in the final round of play. Zeeb finished the round at 3-over 75. With a tournament total of 12-over 228 (76-77-75), Zeeb tied for 50th overall.
Senior Emilie Alonso carded her first birdie of the tournament on Tuesday, but she was still plagued by bogeys for the duration of the round. Alonso finished in 58th place with a 17-over 23 (79-77-77).
Next up, the Sun Devils head to California for the Stanford Intercollegiate. The tournament will be held Oct. 17-19 at the par-71, 6,297-yard Stanford Golf Course.
