Orlando, Fla.—Senior Noemi Jimenez leads the Arizona State women’s golf team as it heads into the final round at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The Sun Devils shot a 10-over 298 in the second round on the par-72, 6,247-yard Watson Course at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla. Slipping three spots on the leader board, Arizona State is now tied for 11th place with Vanderbilt.
The South Carolina Gamecocks pulled ahead of the Arizona Wildcats and now sit atop the team leader board with a 4-under 572. Second-place Arizona and third-place Northwestern are the only other teams under par after two rounds. On the individual leader board, South Carolina’s Justine Dreher sits alone in the no. 1 spot at 8-under.
The Sun Devils currently have two golfers in the top 12. Jimenez played another strong round on Monday, climbing from 11th to 4th after shooting a 1-under 71. Through 36 holes, Jimenez is at 2-under 142 (71-71). Sophomore Monica Vaughn shot a 1-over 73 on Monday. Vaughn is tied for 12th overall at even par after two rounds.
Freshmen Sophia Zeeb and Roberta Liti struggled today, both plagued by bogeys throughout the round. Zeeb is currently tied for 52nd place with a 9-over 153 (76-77) and Liti is in 54th place with a 10-over 154 (75-79).
Rounding out the Sun Devil lineup is senior Emilie Alonso, who improved her score from the first round of play on Sunday. Alonso was 5-over on Monday, bringing her two-round total to 12-over 156 (79-77).
The ANNIKA Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow, with third round action beginning at 8:00 a.m ET. Arizona State will tee off at 8:50 a.m. ET from the 10th hole with Pepperdine and Vanderbilt. Live scoring is available on www.golfstat.com.
