TEMPE – Arizona State University softball senior Dallas Escobedo was named a first-team All-American for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award, as announced on Friday.
Escobedo finished her career with a 3.12 cumulative grade point average (GPA) while double majoring in Special Education and Family & Human Development.
Over the course of that career, Escobedo volunteered with multiple programs in the Arizona State community, including Race for the Cure and Fantasy Flight. She spent numerous hours of her time working with youth at local schools while working toward her teaching degree.
Escobedo finished her career as one of the most decorated Sun Devils in any sport, with one national championship and three trips to the Women’s College World Series under her belt.
The senior finished with a 1.95 ERA and a 24-9 record this season with an incredible 336 strikeouts to just 59 walks. She pitched 12 shutouts on the season and 30 complete games while holding opponents to just a 1.83 batting average.
Escobedo finished her career with a 115-26 all-time record (.815 winning percentage) and a 2.01 career ERA. She can three wins shy of matching Katie Burkhart’s school record of 118 victories.
She finished her career with 1,222 strikeouts, good for second in ASU history. She became just the 14th player in Pac-12 history to accomplish the 1,000 strikeout feat and finds herself 33rd in NCAA career history and sixth in Pac-12 lore for total strikeouts.
Escobedo reached the 300 strikeout plateau in three different seasons and holds the fourth, fifth and sixth highest strikeout totals for a single season in program history.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of NCAA Division I senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring. The award is managed by Premier Sports Management. Award winners are determined by a selection process that includes NCAA Division I college coaches in each respective sport, national media and fans. Public fan voting on the Senior CLASS Award website takes place each year during the month leading up to the NCAA Championship.
