The ASU swimming and diving teams wrapped up their two matchups in California this weekend by both taking their second losses in as many days. Saturday afternoon the Sun Devil men dropped their contest to Stanford, 135-101, while the women were defeated 148-68.
It started well for the men when the relay team of Richard Bohus, Thibaut Capitaine, Alex Coci and Tadas Duskinas took first in the 200 medley freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.25. The group also won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:01.76 with Barkley Perry substituting Capitaine.
Tristin Baxter refuses to lose when it comes to long-distance swims on the women's side. She finished first for the second-straight day in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:03.32, and also got the top spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.21.
The men’s 200 breaststroke may have been the best swim of the day for the Devils, taking the top three spots. Capitaine led the way with a time of 2:02.32, followed in order by Kyle Sockwell (2:07.55) and Zac Dalby (2:09.01).
The Sun Devils take a couple weeks off before returning home to Mona Plummer Aquatic Center to face their in-state rivals, Arizona. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m. MT.
