The ASU men and women’s swimming and diving teams hit the water against Cal on Friday for their inaugural appearance on the Pac-12 Network. While the final scores favored the Golden Bears, 178-113 on the men’s side and 229-69 on the women’s side, some Sun Devils found sucess with the spotlight on them.

Alex Coci led the way for the swimmers with two individual wins. He outswam the competition by almost 2.5 seconds in the 200 butterfly with a time of  1:47.92 and also placed first in the 100 butterfly when he swam a 48.58 mark.

Tristin Baxter on the women’s side has become unstoppable in the 1000 freestyle and once again dominated her competition and finished first with a time of 9:55.56. She won by over five seconds over Celina Li of Cal.

The Sun Devil divers had great success from the board against the Golden Bears and swept all four dives, thanks to two first-place results apiece from Hailey Casper and Riley McCormick. Casper won the 3-meter with a score of 335.03 and the 1-meter with a 307.50. McCormick earned the victories in the same events with respective scores of 313.73 and 397.58. Luke Clohessy gave his Olympic teammate a run and finished second to McCormick in both events with scores of 292.80 in the 3-meter dive and 393.15 in the 1-meter dive.

The loss can’t afford to linger long as the Devils head to Palo Alto to face another Pac-12 foe in Stanford on Saturday in a slated 1:00 p.m. MT matchup.
