FRANKLIN, Tenn.—The fifth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team recorded a dominant second-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship, Sunday, at the Vanderbilt Legends Course in Franklin, Tenn.
The Sun Devils topped nine teams ranked in the preseason top-25, including No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Duke, by shooting a 6-over 870 (285-293-292). Fourth-ranked UCLA took home the team title, shooting a new tournament record in the final round of competition.
Individually, junior Noemi Jimenez had struggled in the first two rounds but came through in the clutch for the Sun Devils shooting a team-low 68 in the final round of competition. Overall, Jimenez recorded 1-over 217 (74-75-68) to tie for ninth place. Freshman Monica Vaughn also scored her best tournament to date, shooting 2-over 218 (72-72-74) to tie for 13th.
Next up, the Sun Devils return to Oklahoma to compete in the Schooner Classic, Oct. 5-7 in Norman, Okla.
