FULLERTON, Calif. - Starting left-hander Ryan Kellogg gave up just one run in 6 1/3 innings and the Arizona State University baseball team twice brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth inning in a 1-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton in their second game of the Fullerton Regional on Saturday night in Fullerton, Calif.

Kellogg (11-1) took his first loss of the season after conceding the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Titans shortstop Richy Pedroza broke up the scoreless tie with a sacrifice fly to left field after Kellogg gave up a leadoff double to second baseman Jake Jefferies, who then moved to third on a bunt single before scoring the eventual game-winning run.

Catcher Max Rossiter hit a one-out single to center field in the ninth inning to put the tying run on base, but both designated hitter Nate Causey and right fielder Trever Allen struck out on called strike threes to end the game.

Fullerton starting left-hander Justin Garza (12-0) gave up four hits in 8 1/3 scoreless frames and center fielder/reliever Michael Lorenzen (19) earned the save.

Kellogg kept Fullerton off the board early as he stranded a pair of Titans on the corners in both the first and second innings. He induced consecutive flyouts to end the opening frame and then was helped out by Allen in the second.

Allen fielded a one-out single in right field with runners on first and second, and threw the lead runner out at home to record his ninth outfield assist of the season, which is tied for the third most in NCAA. Kellogg coerced the next batter into another flyout to end the inning.

Left-hander Brett Lilek replaced Kellogg with one out in the seventh and recorded consecutive groundouts to keep the Devils within one, 1-0. Lilek also tossed a scoreless eighth with one strikeout.
