TEMPE, Ariz. - The 13th-ranked Arizona State University baseball team scored three runs in the eighth to break up a tie and take a 6-3 win in the Territorial Cup game on Saturday night in front of a season high 4,304 fans at Packard Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

The Sun Devils (34-16-1, 15-11) used a bases-loaded walk from designated hitter Nate Causey and a two-run single by right fielder Trever Allen to notch three runs in the eighth inning and tie the Territorial Cup series at two games apiece.

Starting left-hander Ryan Kellogg did not allow an earned in 6 2/3 innings, but earned a no-decision after a throwing error in the top of the seventh gave Arizona one run. He threw six shutout frames before the unearned run in the seventh, and struck out three and issued just one walk and six hits. His 90 1/3 innings pitched this season are the seventh most by a freshman in ASU history.

Right-hander Ryan Burr (4-2) recorded the win after striking out the side in the ninth and throwing 1 1/3 prefect innings. He took the mound with two outs in the eighth and induced a groundout to strand a runner at second before his three consecutive strikeouts sealed the win.

Allen paced the Devils with three hits and a trio of RBI, shortstop Drew Stankiewicz added a pair of hits and center fielder Kasey Coffman scored two runs.

Third baseman Michael Benjamin gave the Devils the lead, 1-0, in the bottom of the third after a two-out RBI single plated Coffman, who took a two-out walk and stole second.

Kellogg had retired seven in a row before giving up a leadoff single to start the seventh. Arizona recorded two more singles for what appeared to be the tying run, but second baseman Trent Gilbert slipped on the base paths and left fielder Jake Peevyhouse threw him out at home to preserve the lead. However, a throwing error on Benjamin in the following at-bat brought catcher Riley Moore home from second and tied the game at one run apiece.

Left-hander Brett Lilek took the mound with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh after Kellogg issued a two-out walk, and struck out left fielder Cody Ramer looking to end the frame with the bases loaded and keep the score tied.

The Sun Devils responded with two runs on four consecutive singles in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead, 3-1. Causey singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Allen put ASU ahead by one with an RBI single. Stankiewicz followed with a base hit and first baseman Dalton DiNatale provided the second run with an RBI single to left field.

Lilek hit the first batter of the eighth inning, and then a single and fielding error by Allen scored the lead runner from first to cut ASU's lead to one, 3-2. An RBI single by third baseman Brandon Dixon two batters later tied the game at three.

Coffman led off the eighth with a single and second baseman James McDonald followed with a base hit two batters later before a walk to catcher Max Rossiter loaded the bases with one out. Wildcats (30-21, 11-145) right-hander Matthew Troupe then walked Causey to give ASU a one-run lead, 4-3, and Allen followed with a two-run single to left field to score both McDonald and Rossiter.

Arizona starting right-hander James Farris was chased with one out in the bottom of the seventh after surrendering a pair of runs on four consecutive singles. He allowed three total runs on six hits and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings. Left-hander Augey Bill (4-1) took his first loss of the season after conceding one run on one hit in the bottom of the eighth inning.
