SALT LAKE CITY - The eighth-ranked Arizona State University baseball team won its fourth straight Pac-12 series with a 5-1 win over Utah on Saturday at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City.

The Sun Devils (27-12-1, 10-7) used a three-run first inning to take an early lead and starting left-hander Ryan Kellogg gave up just one run in eight innings as ASU took its eighth series win and its fifth conference road win of the season.

Kellogg (10-0) remained undefeated as he scattered seven hits, struck out four and did not walk a batter for his fifth start this season. He is just the sixth Sun Devil to collect at least 10 wins in his freshman season and moves into a three-way tie with Kaipo Spenser (1994) and Doug Newstrom (1991) for fifth on the school's freshmen wins list.

Center fielder Coffman opened the game with a leadoff double and scored the following at-bat on an RBI double by third baseman Michael Benjamin to put ASU ahead early, 1-0. Catcher Max Rossiter plated Benjamin with an RBI double of his own before rounding home on an RBI single by right fielder Trever Allen as the Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Left fielder Wyler Smith scored the sole run for the Utes (16-22, 5-15) in the bottom of the second. He reached base on a bunt single, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout, and was plated on an RBI single by catcher Konnor Armijo.

The Utes threatened in the bottom of the sixth with a pair on base and one out, but Kellogg induced a flyout to right field and picked off the lead runner at third by way of first baseman Dalton DiNatale to keep the Devils' two-run lead intact.

Second baseman James McDonald hit his fourth home run of the season to lead off the eighth inning and Coffman added an RBI single in the top of the ninth to add two insurance runs for the Devils.

Utes starting right-hander Dalton Carroll (3-5) took the loss, but threw six scoreless innings after the opening frame.
