Player Bio: Jered Liebeck - Arizona State University Official Athletic Site



ASU Career: Earned four varsity letters for the Sun Devils... compiled a career 13-4 record, including a career-best 8-0 with a 2.88 ERA in 2003... earned third-team All-American honors by NCBWA in 2003 and finished second in the Pac-10 in ERA... appeared in 52 games during his career with 28 starts.

2003 (Senior): Capped his ASU career in style going 8-0 with a 2.88 ERA to earn All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors and third-team All-America accolades (NCBWA)... also named ASU's co-Pitcher of the Year with classmate Beau Vaughan... ranked second in the Pac-10 in ERA and tied for sixth with eight wins... made 21 pitching appearances, with 13 coming in starts... threw a complete-game three-hit shutout against nationally ranked Long Beach State (2/1) to earn Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors... finished his career with a 13-4 record and a 4.06 ERA... made 52 pitching appearances and recorded 114 strikeouts... signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent and began his professional career with the Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League).

2002 (Junior): Made 14 appearances and seven starts in his junior year... earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors while going 2-1 with one save and a 5.20 ERA... pitched well late in the season, posting a 2-0 record with 4.26 ERA in May and June (five appearances)... was 1-0 with a 5.60 ERA as a starter and 1-1 with one save out of the bullpen... second on the team with five balks and eight home runs allowed... had a career-best outing vs. nationally ranked USC (5/17) in which he struck out eight and scattered seven hits in seven shutout innings... started ASU's first game in the NCAA Regionals vs. San Diego... as a relief pitcher retired six of the seven first batters he faced... pitched for Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the summer, going 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA.

2001 (Sophomore): Saw action in seven games and made three starts...was 1-1 with a 4.40 ERA...picked up the win with 5.1 strong innings vs. Creighton (2/17), striking out season-high five batters...pitched two shutout innings in season debut vs. Southern Utah (2/4)...struck out four and allowed only one run in 3.1 innings in start vs. Duke (2/11)... helped Anchorage Glacier Pilots to 2001 NBC World Series Championship.

2000 (Freshman): Joined the team in January, transferring from Mesa CC...picked up first collegiate win vs. UCLA (4/22), allowing only two runs on five hits over 5.1 innings...had solid outing vs. Washington (5/14), going 5.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits to notch the victory...held lefties to a .275 average...saw action vs. Texas in NCAA regional, allowing two earned runs in 4.2 innings in season finale...finished the year with 5.55 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.

High School: Prepped at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, where he was coached by Tony Cirrellie...held school records for home runs and strikeouts...once struck out 18 batters in a game...hit two home runs vs. Desert Mountain, including a game-winning grand slam...named all-league his junior and senior years.

MLB Draft: Selected in the 45th round of the 1999 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Personal: Major is communication... born Jan. 27, 1981, in Mission Viejo, Calif.... parents are Michael Liebeck and Jere Hill... father played college baseball at Oregon and Triple-A baseball with the Montreal Expos... enjoys playing golf and wakeboarding... full name is Jered Michael Liebeck.
