Women's Golf Vaults Into Fifth Place After Day Two of PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 14 women’s golf team rallied on the second day of action with three under-par performances to tie for fifth place in the PING/ASU Invitational, combining for a seven-under score of 281. The Sun Devils shot a combined 18 birdies for the lowest round of the day in the tournament.

Justine Lee shot a 69 in her second round to help push the Sun Devils up in the overall rankings. Lee saw five bogeys in her three-under performance, the first time she’s broken into the sixties this year. The 2012 Honorable Mention All-American currently holds a score of 143.

Laura Blanco now leads the Arizona State squad, sitting at three under with a score of 141 after two complete rounds. Blanco is currently tied for ninth in the standings, with Daniela Ordonez tied for twelfth directly behind. Ordonez shot an even 72 on Saturday, scoring 142 overall.

Noemi Jimenez swung back from an over-par performance on Friday to shoot two-under on Saturday. Jimenez has a combined score of 146 so far. Emilie Alonso rounded out the Sun Devils with a second-round score of 78. Nicole Jones, who is competing individually, shot a 75 on her second day.

The PING/ASU Invitational wraps up on Sunday with the third round teeing off at 7:30 a.m. at Karsten Golf Course. Live stats are available at www.golfstats.com
