TEMPE, Ariz. - The 21st-ranked Arizona State University baseball team lost its series finale to No. 11 Oregon, 16-3, on Sunday afternoon at Packard Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

The Sun Devils (19-9-1, 6-6) won the series against the Ducks on Saturday, but could not hold on for the sweep as they never recovered from a two-run opening inning deficit. Shortstop Drew Stankiewicz went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and first baseman Dalton DiNatale added an RBI single to pace ASU offensively.

The Ducks (23-8, 9-3) took a two-run lead in the opening frame on a pair of hits and an RBI groundout, but Stankiewicz pulled ASU within one, 2-1, in the second inning with a two-out triple left-center field.

Starting right-hander Billy Young (0-1) walked the first batter of the third inning and allowed one run on a pair of singles before Ducks catcher Josh Graham knocked a two-run homer to left field that ended Young's outing. Right-hander Darin Gillies took over with one out in the inning and allowed one run on two hits, but induced a popup with runners on the corners to keep Oregon's lead to five, 6-1.

ASU added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth as left fielder Jake Peevyhouse, who took a leadoff walk, moved to third on a single and then scored on a double-play groundout from designated hitter RJ Ybarra. Stankiewicz followed up with a two-out double and advanced to third on a balk before first DiNatale plated him with an RBI single.

The Ducks scored one run in both the fifth and seventh innings, and notched eight runs in the eighth to jump out a 16-3 lead.

Young went 2 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks to take his first loss of the season.

Oregon starting left-hander Cole Irvin (6-1) garnered his sixth win of the season after he allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three in seven innings.

ASU used five relief pitchers in the game, including right-hander Josh McAlister, who allowed just one hit and struck out one over the final 1 1/3 innings.
