HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Led once again by an outstanding round by sophomore Noemi Jimenez, the 17th-ranked Arizona State women's golf team is tied for fifth after the second round of the Darius Rucker Invitational, hosted by South Carolina, Saturday, in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Sun Devils shot a two-day total of 26-over 594 (297-297) for the second round competition. ASU is tied with North Carolina for the fifth spot.
Jimenez jumped into second place individually after shooting 2-under on the day. The sophomore, who won her first career individual title last week at the Cal Classic, holds a two round total of 1-under 141 (72-69). Junior Daniela Ordonez also moved up the leader board, shooting even par on the day to tie for fourth place heading into the final round.
Arizona State and Vanderbilt are the only teams with two players positioned in the top-5 individually.
The final round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate continues tomorrow at the par-71, 6211-yard Long Cove Golf Club.
After the practice round, on Thursday, the teams were treated to a private concert by tournament namesake and Hootie and the Blowfish front man Darius Rucker, adding an extra element of fun to the three-day tournament.
