TEMPE, Ariz. - Right-hander Trevor Williams pitched seven straight shutout innings to lead the 24th-ranked Arizona State University baseball team to a 4-1 win over No. 4 UCLA on Thursday night in front of 3,501 fans at Packard Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

Williams (4-2), who struck out six, did not allow a run until two outs in the top of the eighth to earn the win. He gave up eight hits and one walk in 7 2/3 innings, and routinely stranded UCLA runners on third base before he was replaced by left-hander Matt Dunbar.

Four Sun Devils (14-7-1, 3-4) collected an RBI, including a home run by third baseman Michael Benjamin, as the Sun Devils collected their fourth win over a top-10 team this season.

Center fielder Kasey Coffman was hit by a pitch to lead off the first inning, and then moved to third on an error and a sacrifice bunt by Benjamin before left fielder Jake Peevyhouse plated him with an RBI groundout to give ASU an early 1-0 lead.

The Devils took a two-run advantage in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout by Coffman, and extended their lead, 3-0, in the seventh after right fielder Trever Allen opened the frame with a triple and shortstop Drew Stankiewicz followed with an RBI double.

The Bruins (17-5, 5-2) scored their sole run in the top of the eighth inning on a pair of singles to cut their deficit to two, 3-1, but Benjamin responded in the bottom of the frame with his second home run of the season in the eighth inning to stretch the Devils' lead back to three, 4-1.

Dunbar faced two batters in the top of the eighth inning and right-hander Ryan Burr (4) closed out the ninth to post his fourth save of the season.

UCLA starting right-hander Adam Plukto (2-2) pitched all eight innings but surrendered four runs, including three earned, on four hits to take his second loss of the season.
