FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The Arizona State swimming and diving squad notched another championship on their belt behind freshman Morgan Weller, who finished first in the women's 1-meter diving competition in the third day of competition for the Sun Devils at the Pac-12 Championships in Washington.

Weller earned the top spot in the contest scoring 334.35 on her finals dive and outscoring the runner-up, Haley Ishimatsu of USC, by 20.20 points. The springboard championship was the first for the Devils since Trish Tumlinson took home the 3-meter in 2005. For diving in general, the Devils have won a Pac-12 Championship as recently as 2012, when Elina Eggers won in platform diving. Hailey Casper placed ninth in the competition with a score of 273.00.

On the men's side, Riley McCormick and Harrison Jones placed third and fourth for Arizona State in the 3-meter championship. McCormick scored 392.50 in his second appearance on the diving board this season, and Jones followed with a score of 388.25.

The swimmers started out with the 400 IM on Friday, with Miriam Crispo as the only participant for the Devils touching at 4:34.52. Caroline Kuczynski and Lizzy Luttrell both swam NCAA B-cuts in the 100-yard butterfly race, with times of 52.48 and 54.22 respectively, and Lori Layne Kremer swam a 54.62 in the same contest.

Shannon Landgrebe and Cassie Morrice swam season-best B-cuts of 1:45.64 and 1:46.08 in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fifth and sixth overall in the event respectively. Tristin Baxter also earned an NCAA B-cut time of 1:47.81, finishing just ahead of teammate Juanita Barretto (1:48.91) in the B final.

Alex Popa continued her stellar performance in Washington with a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in at a time of 1:00.49 - a season best for the junior as well as the entire team. Tory Houston also swam a B-cut time, touching at 1:02.31, her best of the season by .20 seconds.

Taylor Wohrley stood out for the Sun Devils in the 100-yard backstroke event, swimming a 54.23 to place 15th and earn a B-cut time. Barretto and Kallie Golden tied at 20th with 55.53 seconds to round out the finals field for Arizona State.

The Devils finish competition at the Pac-12 on Saturday, rounding out the weekend with finals in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly, and 400 freestyle relay. The women's platform diving finals will also take place during the swimming break.
