LOS ANGELES -- Despite 23 points from Jahii Carson, and a furious last-minute rally, Arizona State was unable to overcome USC in a 57-56 loss on Saturday.
Eric Wise (12 points), Bryon Wesley (11 points) and J.T. Terrell (10 points) all scored in double figures for the Trojans (14-15, 9-7 Pac-12).
Jordan Bachynski scored 17 points while Chris Colvin added 10 for Arizona State (20-10, 9-8), which lost its third in a row.
ASU pulled within 55-52 on Colvin's basket with 53 seconds left. USC then missed a shot at the end of the shot clock, but Wise got the rebound, was fouled and made two free throws to put USC up 57-52.
Carson scored inside and, after a USC turnover on the inbounds pass, hit another bucket that made it 57-56 with 5 seconds left.
Wise was fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and missed the front end of the one-and-one free throw, but Carson's 35-footer at the buzzer was off target.
The Sun Devils close out the regular season next Saturday (2:30 p.m. MT) when they travel to Tucson to take on No. 11 Arizona in a Territorial Cup Series matchup.
