TEMPE, Ariz.--Led, once again, by stellar performances from the underclassmen, the Arizona State women's gymnastics team scored a 195.450 in the team's loss to No. 12 Oregon State, Friday, in Tempe, Ariz.
Sophomore Brianna Gades tied for the event title on floor with Oregon State's Melanie Jones after recording a season high of 9.850 with her routine. Freshman Stephanie Miceli competing in her second attempt on floor overall this season tied for second place with a score of 9.825. Overall on floor, the Gym Devils broke the 49 mark for the second time this season recording a 49.075 and besting the Beavers in the event.
Miceli also shined on beam, scoring the top score for ASU with a 9.825 and earned second place overall in the meet.
The freshmen success continued with Carissa Kraus and Erin Hamister. Both Kraus and Hamister posted new career highs on vault, marking back-to-back scores of 9.850. Natasha Sundby followed suit earning the third consecutive 9.850 score rounding out the event.
Next up, the Sun Devils head to the Bay Area to face No. 10 Stanford on Fri., Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. PT. The meet will be televised by the Pac-12 Network and aired on tape delay on Sat. Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. MT.
