TEMPE, Ariz.--With several career-highs set for the Gym Devils, Arizona State dropped their season-opening meet to No. 4 Oklahoma 193.625-196.700, Saturday, at Wells Fargo Arena.

Led by the Sun Devils' young roster of gymnast, 20 of the 23 line-up spots were fielded by underclassman. ASU only vaulted five gymnasts instead of six. Sophomore Natasha Sundby scored a career-best 9.875 on vault, besting her previous 9.800. Sundby's 9.875 tied for the second best vault of the day.

The Sun Devils continued strong on vault with freshman Carissa Kraus landing a vault of 9.800 in her first outing as a Gym Devil. Fellow Freshman Erin Hamisterscored a 9.775 to strengthen the ASU vaulting line-up. Arizona State ended the event with a team score of 48.550 with out the benefit of dropping a sixth score.

Sophomore Brianna Gadesalso had a standout meet, scoring a 9.825 on both beam and floor. Gades was just a quarter of a point off her career highs in both events to kick off the 2013 season.

On beam is where the Gym Devils showed consistency with three gymnasts scored 9.750 or better. Graduate student Kahoku Palafox scored a 9.775 on beam, while freshman Stephanie Micelirecorded a 9.750 to help pad ASU's score.

On floor freshman Risa Perezpersonality shined, matching Gades score of a 9.825 in the event for the opening meet of her career.

Next up, the Sun Devils travel to Northern California tri-meet against Sacramento State and San Jose State on Friday, Jan. 18th at 7 p.m. PT.
