TUSCON, Ariz. -

The No. 37 Arizona State women's tennis team fell to in-state and conference rival Arizona 7-0 on Friday afternoon in Tuscon, Ariz. With this loss, the Sun Devils end the season 11-9 overall and look forward to Pac-12 Tournament play.

The Sun Devils entered the match carrying multiple injuries, and Leighann Sahagun and Hannah James were able to secure the sole match victory of the day for ASU. At the No. 2 doubles court, the pairing defeated Sarah Landsman and Hailey Johnson 9-7.

ASU was forced to forfeit at the No. 3 doubles spot, giving Arizona the easy advantage 0-1. Arizona State sophomore Jacqueline Cako was defeated on the No. 1 singles court by Lacey Smith 6-2, 6-3. This was the first singles competition for Cako in almost two weeks after she suffered an injury in California two weekends prior.

Arizona State will travel next to the Pac-12 tournament in Ojai, Calif. beginning Thursday, April 26 and continuing through Sunday, April 29.
