Freshman Stan Gautier shot a 10-over 150 (74-76) on a windy and rainy day in Westlake Village, Calif., as the Sun Devil men's golf team shot 52-over 612 (302-310) and is in 11th place after 36 holes at the North Ranch Intercollegiate. Gautier is tied for 23rd.
Senior Spencer Fletcher is tied for 34th at 14-over 154 (76-78), while freshman Cameron Palmer (77-81), Jin Song (75-83) and freshman Mathias Schjoelberg (83-75) are tied for 49th at 18-over 158.
San Diego State (573) has a five-stroke lead over San Diego (578).
The third and final round will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the par-70 North Ranch Country Club. The day was overcast, cold and windy, though significant rainfall came briefly in the afternoon. On average, scores were much lower in the morning (75.96) than the afternoon (77.54).
This was USC's tournament from 1978-2011, though host duties have been handed off to Pepperdine this year so that the Trojans may focus on putting on the 2012 NCAA Championships.
