Recap | Final Stats | Notes
ON WHAT THREW THE SUN DEVILS OFF THROUGHOUT THE GAME...
Carrick Felix
"They brought the energy. They brought the intensity. That's something that we didn't bring today. Obviously they were the better team tonight and we've just got a lot of stuff we need to work on--a lot of stuff."
ON THE LACK OF OFFENSIVE RHYTHM AS A RESULT OF THE DEFENSIVE PRESSURE FROM DEPAUL...
Carrick Felix
"We definitely did not. We didn't play ASU basketball. We lost track of some of the possessions, lost track of some of our guys and we definitely weren't playing ASU basketball. Something that we've got to get back into tomorrow and that we've got to talk about and capitalize on. DePaul definitely played a hell of a game tonight."
ON WHAT HAPPENED TO CARSON'S MONOPOLY OVER THE LANE AFTER THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES...
Jahii Carson
"Yeah they started collapsing, triple-, double-teaming, trying to take the ball out of my hands, trying to take the rhythm. That's pretty much what happened."
ON THE SUN DEVIL DEFENSE AGAINST DEPAUL...
Jahii Carson
"It's different. There're different teams, different guards, different speeds. If a guy is going to come up on me at 90 feet, I'm going to go past him. The same thing with a guy who's just as fast as me, I've got to give him more room, an arm's space. Some of the guys hit jump shots, and they definitely came in feeling it tonight and we definitely were not on our top tier."
ON DEPAUL'S PLAYERS' ATHLETICISM...
Jahii Carson
"I don't think that it was a problem. I just think they wanted it more than us. We've got guys who are just as athletic as them. They just wanted it more. They just wanted to come out here and get a convincing win. They fought for loose balls. They were intense, with energy, from the tipoff. We learned after the 15-minute mark that our energy decreased and theirs elevated."
ON THE REASON BEHIND THE SUN DEVIL ENERGY DECREASE...
Jahii Carson
"I don't really have an answer for that. I think me and Carrick both bring the team energy, and we brought a little bit in the second half but our team starts off of our energy in the first half. Their whole team had energy throughout the whole game so we really couldn't make up for that."
ON THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF LOSING TO DEPAUL AGAIN THIS YEAR...
Carrick Felix
"It's definitely disappointing to the guys that are here now and the guys that were here last year that actually played in that game in Orlando. We just didn't bring the energy tonight. We didn't throw the first punch. From the get-go, I think, as a team, like Jahii said, we kind of just let down our energy at the 15-minute mark. We waited too late to get going and that's something that we can't do, especially when you play an athletic team like that. We've just got to make sure that we're always ready to go no matter what."
ON THE FREE THROW SHOOTING DISPLAYED BY THE SUN DEVILS...
Carrick Felix
"We've got to continue to work on our free throws. That's something we've obviously got to work on, on our own time. During practice, after practice, that's something that's going to come down to winning games--that and turnovers. It's always the little things. It's never the big plays, highlight plays. It's always the little things, (50/50 balls, turnovers, making free throws) that win games. DePaul definitely brought that tonight. We got one 50/50 ball and they got seven of them. They won that battle."
