PALO ALTO, Calif.—The third-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team moved into a tie for fifth place after the second round of competition at the 2012 Stanford Intercollegiate, Saturday, in Palo Alto, Calif. The Sun Devils shot a two-round total of 11-over 579 (290-289), eight shots back from tournament leader USC. 

Junior Laura Blanco shot the low round for the Sun Devils on the second day of competition, shooting a 1-under 70 on the par-71, 6,130-yard Stanford Golf Course. Blanco is currently tied for 20th with a two-round total of 3-over 145 (75-70). Sophomore Noemi Jimenez continues to lead Arizona State individually in a tie for 11th. So far in the tournament, Jimenez has carded a 1-over 143 (70-73) heading into the final round.

The Sun Devils have won the Stanford Intercollegiate twice in the 16-year history of the event. ASU's most recent victory in Palo Alto came in 2009 with a team scoring a total of 840 (273-282-285), the second-lowest total recorded in the tournament's history. While the tournament has been held since 1995, the Sun Devils will look to also claim its first individual title at the event. 

The final round of the 2012 Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, concludes tomorrow from the Stanford Golf Course. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
