The Arizona State men's golf team completed the first 36 holes of the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational tied for 8th-place, while a new face sits at the top for the Sun Devils in the form of a freshman.
ASU, led by Jon Rahm Rodriguez, gained two spots after the first round to get to get to 8th (+27) where they sit three shots behind the Oregon Ducks.
In only his second tournament as a Sun Devil, Rahm Rodriguez, the first-year collegiate pro from Spain shot four-over par through two rounds including a one-over par 73 on the second round. He is tied with three other golfers and trails 13th-place by one stroke.
Fellow freshman Alberto Sanchez shot two rounds of 75 to sit six-over par in his first college tournament, putting him in 25th-place. Sophomore Mathias Schjoelberg is tied for 33rd after shooting rounds of 77 and 75, while Spencer Lawson and Max Rottluff both are tied for 44th-place.
The host-team Washington Huskies lead the way into Tuesday at three-under par, six shots ahead of second-place Texas A&M. St. Mary's (CA) is third at 11-over par.
Sophomore Austin Quick leads the way for the Sun Devils in the individual tournament, finishing his first two rounds in 9th-place at four-over par. Chris Russo, a transfer from Cal State Northridge, is in 20th and freshman Trey Kaahanui is in 28th.
