LOS ANGELES, Calif. -

The No. 29 Arizona State women's tennis team fell to No. 4 USC for the second time this season 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif. The Sun Devils forfeited two singles points, and the No. 3 doubles match due to previously acquired injuries.

In an excellent showing, senior Michelle Brycki replaced sophomore Jacqueline Cako on the number one court to defeat Zoe Scandalis who is individually ranked fifteenth in the nation. Brycki won in two sets, winning the tie breaker in the first 7-6 (2), and 6-4 outright in the second.

Injuries hit Arizona State hard with the team forfeiting points at the No. 5 and 6 courts. And after loosing the doubles point that also included a forfeit, USC was out to an early overall team lead 3-0. Freshman Joanna Smith was defeated by twenty second ranked Danielle Lao 6-0, 6-1 for the match clinching point.

Arizona State drops to 10-7 overall, 2-5 in the Pac-12 on the 2012 season. The Sun Devils will be home in Tempe, Ariz. next weekend for conference play against Utah and Colorado.
