The Arizona State men's golf team is in 11th place of 20 teams at the 22nd annual Amer Ari Invitational held at the Waikola Beach Resort in Hawaii after the first round Wednesday. Playing with three freshmen, ASU shot a 2-under-286 and was led by freshman Mathias Schjoelberg, who shot a 4-under 68 and is tied for 11th while classmate Austin Quick host a 1-under 71 and is tied for 40th.

Texas leads the field at 18-under 270.

Freshman David Lowe shot a 1-over 73 (T-62nd), senior Spencer Fletcher is a 2-over 74 (T-71st) and Jin Song is at 3-over 75 (T-85th).

The Pac-12 has a stranglehold on the top spots on the invidual leaderboard as Washington's Cheng-Tsung Pan, UCLA's Pontus Widegren and Stanford's Patrick Grimes are tied at 6-under 66 for the top spot.

The tournament continues Thursday and Friday with 18 holes each day.
