ASU FOOTBALL POSTGAME NOTES
Sun Devils v. Missouri
Frank Kush Field/Sun Devil Stadium
September 9, 2011
Ratings: The ESPN 7:30 p.m. PT drew a 2.0 rating, with a HH Imp of 1,960,823 and P2+ (viewers) of 2,535,606.
Brock note: Brock Osweiler is the first Sun Devil to throw for 350 yards (24-of-32 for 353 yards) and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the past 68 games. Rudy Carpenter went for 401 yards (27-of-34) and three touchdowns vs. Washington on Oct. 29, 2005.
Aaron note: Aaron Pflugrad's 180 yards receiving (on eight catches) is most yards receiving by a Sun Devil since Derek Hagan had nine catches for 182 yards on Dec. 31, 2004 in the Sun Bowl, a span of the past 76 games.
Ending the Streak: Entering tonight's tilt, Missouri had won 22 consecutive non-conference games, a streak that dated back to 2005 when their last loss in such a matchup came against New Mexico. ASU evened its all-time series with Missouri at three games apiece and now own a 2-1 advantage over the Tigers at Sun Devil Stadium following the 37-30 overtime victory.
On Erickson: For ASU head coach Dennis Erickson, it was his 28th career victory over a ranked opponent.
A Career Night: Wide receiver Aaron Pflugrad collected a career-high 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns on eight catches. Put into perspective, Pflugrad had a combined 606 total yards of receiving and five touchdowns in his career entering the game, and finished with nearly a third of his prior receiving yards and a large percentage of his prior touchdown totals as well. Put into more perspective, Pflugrad had averaged just 17.3 yards of receiving per game during his career.
Let It Pfly: Pflugrad's 60-yard touchdown reception near the seven-minute mark of the second half was the longest catch of his career and the longest play for the Sun Devils since last year when Osweiler hit T.J. Simpson on a 78-yard bomb against UCLA. Prior to that, you'd have to go back to Dimitri Nance's 57-yard rushing touchdown vs. Washington on Oct. 13, 2007 for the prior longest play. In fact, the touchdown pass was nearly equal to Pflugrad's prior career0best game for yardage of 77 yards.
Coming Through in the Clutch: Arizona State upped their record to 6-3 all-time in overtime games with Friday's victory.
