RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif.--Led by junior Giulia Molinaro, the ninth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team sits in fourth place after the first round of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn, hosted by San Diego State. ASU shot a 9-over 297 on day one, four shots off first-place UCLA.
Coming off an individual victory in Hawai’i, Molinaro leads the field individually after the first round of competition. The junior shot a 3-under 69, recording a total of four birdies on the day.
Freshmen Laura Blanco, Justine Lee, and Daniela Ordonez finished the first day with in one shot of each other, shooting 75, 76, and 77, respectively. Freshman Brittany McKee rounded out the ASU line-up, shooting an 80 to tie for 66th.
The second round of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn continues tomorrow from San Diego at the par-72, 6,366-yard Championship Golf Course with tee times beginning at 9 a.m.
