The Arizona State men's golf team is tied for fourth after the first round of The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. Senior Spencer Fletcher shot the lowest round of any Sun Devil player this year and is tied for first-place.
Fletcher was 6-under-par on the day. He birdied six holes, including four of the first five. He didn't bogey a hole in the round.
The three freshmen in the ASU lineup all had impressive rounds as well, led by Mathias Schjoelberg, who was 1-under-par on the day. He eagled the second hole. Austin Quick shot an even 72, and Stan Gautier was 1-over-par. They both had four birdies on the day.
Junior Jin Song shot a 2-over-par 74. He birdied seven holes, including three-in-a-row at one point.
The Sun Devils sit at 6-under-par and trail second-ranked Oregon by only three strokes. Stanford and Washington are tied for second after shooting 8-under-par, one stroke behind the leader.
