The Arizona State men's golf team finished seventh at The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., sliding two positions from where they were after round two. Senior Spencer Fletcher, after leading after the first two rounds, finished tied for 5th.
Fletcher finished the tournament with a 9-under-par 207 (66-68-73), but still led all other Sun Devils. Fletcher, after only bogeying one hole in the first two rounds, bogeyed four in the final 18 holes. He was 1-over-par on the day. This 5th-place finish marks the best finish of his career and was his second top-ten. He finished tied for 7th in the first tournament of the year at Olympia Fields, Ill.
Junior Jin Song finished tied for 49th as he shot a 3-over-par 219 (74-73-72). Freshman Mathias Schjoelberg finished tied for 58th with a 5-over-par 221 (71-72-78). He was 1-under-par before shooting 6-over in the final round. Freshmen Stan Gautier and Austin Quick finished tied for 64th and tied for 70th respectively. Gautier finished with an 8-over-par 224 (73-69-82), while Quick finished 11-over-par (72-84-71).
ASU finished at 6-under-par 858 (282-282-294) for the tournament. Second-ranked Oregon, 32-under-par 832 (279-273-280), held off charges from both Washington, 30-under-par 834 (280-277-277), and Stanford, 24-under-par 840 (280-282-278).
Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington had the best individual score at 15-under-par 201 (69-67-65).
