Men's Hoops Postgame Notes After Oregon Win

Jan. 2, 2011

Recap |  Box Score |  Photo Gallery

--For the second straight game ASU played without leading scorer Trent Lockett (14.7 points per game/ninth in the Pac-10) at Oregon, as he injured his big left toe (plant toe as they say in the training world) early in the week in practice. The sophomore is second on the team in minutes per game (33.5/sixth in the Pac-10) and rebounds (6.5/11th in Pac-10). He also gets to the free throw line (40-of-59) more than any other Sun Devil. A Pac-10 All-Freshman Team member last year, he is shooting 60-of-105 (.571) from the field, fifth in the league. He has 24 offensive boards on the year. He posted a career-high 22 points in the season opener at New Mexico and had 24 vs. Weber State on Nov. 26.

--ASU is now 4-0 in games of five points or less. Every Pac-10 team has at least one loss in that category except Arizona, who is 1-0.

--ASU now has five close wins this year (six points or less), and that is nothing new to the senior class of Rihards Kuksiks, Jamelle McMillan and Ty Abbott. In their four years, that trio is 21-11 (.656) in two-possession games (games decided by six points or less or OT), including a 15-7 (.682) mark in the past three seasons. ASU also has won three of its past four one-point games.
