TEMPE- The No. 23 Arizona State men's golf team is in 10th place after 36 holes at the 2011 Pac-10 Men's Golf Championships in Stanford, Calif. The Sun Devils shot a 43-over par 743 (375-368) in the opening day of the tournament.
Senior Oscar Zetterwall led ASU with a 4-over par 144 (73-71) and collected five birdies in the second round en route to a team-best 1-over par 71 to end the day in a tie for 21st. Senior Thomas Buran recorded a 4-over par 74 in consecutive rounds to tie for 40th at 8-over par 148 (74-74).
Both senior Scott Pinckney (78-72), who moved up in the standings into a tie for 45th following a 2-over par 72 in the latter round, and junior Philip Francis (76-74) sit at 10-over par 150. Senior James Byrne is at 11-over par 151 (74-77) and a tie for 48th, and senior Jesper Kennegard shot a 23-over 163 (80-83).
USC leads the event with a 9-over par 709 (355-354), followed by Oregon at 10-over par 710 (351-359) and Stanford at 12-over par 712 (354-358).
