NORMAN, Okla.--The Arizona State Women's gymnastics team competed two gymnasts at Regionals hosted by the University of Oklahoma. Gym Devil Beaté Jones competed in the all-around while Madison Snowden competed on the floor exercise.
Jones compiled an all-around total of 38.725. Starting the competition on bars, Jones scored a 9.700. Moving to beam, Jones had uncommon mistakes leading her to post a 9.475. On floor, she performed a routine that earned a 9.750. Jones hit her highest score of vault performing a solid 9.800.
"I was pretty happy with my vault, floor and bars," said Jones. "Beam was definitely not my best but it was a fun experience. I with in a rotation with Missouri and they were an awesome team to compete with. I still love competing in large meets over dual meets just because the atmosphere is amazing and the crowds cheer for everybody. I definitely did miss my team with me because I love their energy but it was interesting competing alone."
Jones competed in the all-around in eight of eleven meets this season. Her top two all-around scores this season were 39.225 and 39.050. Her solid scores on every event led the Gym Devils to count on her consistency through the season. Jones' season-high scores this season were a 9.900 on vault, a 9.825 on bars, 9.800 on beam, and a 9.850 on floor.
Snowden qualified as an event specialist competing on the floor exercise. Snowden performed a solid 9.875.
"I was really happy with the way I performed." said Snowden. "It felt so good to walk off the floor knowing I did my job and performed the best I could. I had a blast at the meet. i couldn't have asked for a better team to rotate with than North Carolina. North Carolina was so sweet making my experience enjoyable. I love big meets because you're competing against the best of the best and it's a true competition. When you do well it just means that much more."
