WAIKOLOA, Hawaii- The Arizona State men's golf team shot a 9-under par 279 and is in fourth place after the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii. Senior Jesper Kennegard carded a 5-under par 67 to lead the Sun Devils, who sit one stroke behind second and eight shots back from the leader.

Junior Philip Francis recorded a 3-under par 69 and is tied for 10th, followed by senior Oscar Zetterwall, who sits in a tie for 31st after shooting a 1-under par 71. Senior Thomas Buran is tied for 42 at an even par 72 and senior James Byrne is tied for 76th with a 2-over par 74.

Senior Scott Pinckney, who is competing as an individual, fired a 2-under par 70 and is tied for 21st.

USC is on top of the leaderboard with a 17-under par 271, while Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State are tied for second at 10-under par 278.
