OMAHA, Neb. - The Arizona State University baseball team saw its season come to an end with an 11-4 loss to South Carolina on Tuesday in the College World Series. A crowd of 19,936 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb., saw the Sun Devils finish the season with a 52-10 overall record.

The Gamecocks took control of the game in the second inning, scoring eight runs on eight hits against ASU starter Merrill Kelly. Jackie Bradley Jr. and Adrian Morales each hit home runs in the inning. Kelly allowed 10 hits and eight runs over 1.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 10-3 on the season.

South Carolina added two more runs in the third to make it 10-0.

ASU scored two in the fifth on RBI singles by Austin Barnes and Drew Maggi and then added two more in the eighth on run-scoring singles by Deven Marrero and Matt Newman.

A solo home run by Gamecock right fielder Whit Merrifield in the bottom of the eighth capped off the scoring.

Marrero went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Sun Devils at the plate, while Barnes and Johnny Ruettiger had two hits each.

Mitchell Lambson went 4.1 innings out of the bullpen, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out four. Jordan Swagerty pitched the final two innings, giving up two hits and one run.
