Jesper Kennegard is tied for first after two rounds of the of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Invitational with a 1-under 143. T.J. Vogel of USC and Kennegard share the lead.
ASU is tied for fifth as it is at 32-over 608 (305-303). ASU's 15-over 303 was the second-best round of the day at the Las Vegas area course, which is playing to par-72 and 7,510 yards.
Kennegard has finished tied for eighth in his past two tournaments (Battle at the Beach and the USC Collegiate Invitatonal) and entered the tournament with a 72.67 stroke average. He is trying for his third individual title, as he won the 2009 NCAA West Regional with a 12-under 204 last spring and also won the Hawaii Hilo Intercollegiate in January of 2008 with a 13-under 197.
Host UNLV leads the tournament with a 17-over 593 (296-297). ASU is tied for fifth with Texas Tech in the highly competitive 15-team field. Top-ranked Oklahoma State is last currently at 47-over 623 (302-321).
Sun Devil Scott Pinckney is tied for 28th with a 10-over 154 (79-75), James Byrne is tied for 38th at 12-over 156 (81-75), as is Braxton Marquez (75-81). Knut Borsheim is at 19-over 163 (80-83 and tied for 71st)
