EUGENE, Ore. –  Freshman Danica Mendivil led the offense again Friday night as the Sun Devils faced a tough 13th-ranked Oregon Duck squad. The Ducks edged away with the 3-1 win on the night with a 19-25, 25-15, 28-26, 25-21 final. The Sun Devils fall to 5-11 overall and 0-4 in Pac-10 play while Oregon improves to 15-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

The Sun Devils came out to blaze up the rainy state of Oregon in the first set as they battled off seven tie scores to hit .194 with Danica Mendivil leading the way with five kills as the Sun Devil D came up huge with five blocks to stifle the potent Oregon offense to a paltry .036 attack percentage to take off with a 25-19 win..

Set two didn’t set the Sun Devils come out the way they did in the first set though as Oregon came out angry after being Duck hunted through the first set as even with four blocks ASU just couldn’t contain Heather Meyers who swung .417 for six kills to run away with a 25-15 win to knot it at the break.

Set three saw a battle to the end though as ASU battled through 15 tie scores and five lead changes only to have their heartbroken in the end with Oregon swinging out of their mind at .361 with Meyers lighting up the boards again with five kill to snake away with a 28-26 win.

Four was all Oregon needed even though ASU pushed 16 tie scores through the set and six lead changes, in the end the night was Oregon’s as Ariana Williams stepped up to take the burden from Meyers to put down six kills for an unheard of .714 attack percentage to give Oregon the 25-21 win and put the nail in the coffin.

The Sun Devils travel to Corvallis tomorrow night as they set to take on the Oregon State Beavers at 7 p.m. PT.
