Final round results in PDF Format
Stillwater, Okla.- The ninth-ranked men's golf team took 11th at the PING/Golfweek Preview after shooting a 20-over par 308 in the final round. Led by junior Philip Francis, who shot a 3-over par 75 on the day, the Sun Devils recorded an overall 58-over par 922 (307-307-308).
Francis tied for 28th in the event with an overall 9-over par 225 (77-73-75), tops on the team, followed by a 10-over par 226 (74-78-74) and tie for 30th by senior James Byrne. Senior Jesper Kennegard shot an overall 18-over par 234 (82-79-84) and finished in 55th, while junior Scott Pinckney was not able to play for the second consecutive day after injuring his rib prior to the second round.
Two-time defending champion Oklahoma State took home its third title in a row after finishing with a 14-over par 878 (288-296-294) and UCLA came in second at 18-over par 882 (300-287-295). Oregon ended the day at 40-over par 904 (300-299-305) and placed ninth, while USC rounded out the field for the Pac-10 in 15th.
The Sun Devils play their final tournament of the fall season, the Prestige at PGA West, Oct. 10-12 in La Quinta, Calif.
