Final tournament results in PDF Format
The ninth-ranked men's golf team finished in 15th at the Olympia Fields /Fighting Illini Invitational with a 44-over par 854 (296-301-287) after recording a 7-over par 287, third-lowest score of the day. Byrne unleashed a 1-under par 69 in the final round to end the weekend tied for 20th at 5-over par 215 (71-75-69).
Junior Philip Francis tied for 45th with a 12-over par 222 (71-76-75) after shooting a 5-over par 75 and senior Thomas Buran recorded a 4-over par 74 to tie for 51st at 13-over par 223 (76-73-74). Senior Scott Pinckney had his lowest round of the weekend, a 3-over par 73, and tied for 68th with an 18-over par 228 (78-77-73), while senior Jesper Kennegard shot a 1-over par 71 to move into a tie for 74th at 22-over par 232 (80-81-71).
The University of Florida took home the championship with a 5-over par 845 (280-280-285), while Oklahoma State (286-280-286) and Augusta State (280-286-286) tied for second at 12-over par 852. Stanford shot a 30-over par 870 (287-288-295) to tie for ninth and the University of California Berkeley ended 12th with a 35-over par 875 (290-296-289). Peter Uihlein of Oklahoma State won the individual title after shooting a 6-under par 204 (69-65-70).
The Sun Devils will compete next in the NCAA Ping Preview in Stillwater, Okla., Sept. 26-28.
