Sept. 3, 2010
TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2010 home volleyball schedule kicked-off Friday as the Sun Devils opened the ASU Sheraton Classic where they split on the day, topping Seattle U 3-1 and falling to SDSU 3-1 in the nightcap. Against the Red Hawks, ASU locked up a 25-19, 25-21, 16-25 and 25-13 win with Malia Marquardt knocking down four kills while the defense stepped up for three blocks to hold SDSU to an ice cold .000 attack percentage.
While the Sun Devil D kept the line strong in the fourth set with three blocks, the offense couldn’t pull it’s weight as ASU collected 11 unforced errors and could only muster a .023 attack percentage to give SDSU the leeway it needed to snake the win 25-20.
