TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 1 Arizona State University baseball team defeated Washington 10-2 on Friday at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. A crowd of 2,697 saw the Sun Devils improve to 32-4 overall, 10-3 in the Pac-10, with the victory.

The top of the order led the way offensively for the Devils, as Drew Maggi and Deven Marrero combined to go 7-for-7 with three walks in their 10 total plate appearances. Maggi tied a career high with four hits, while Marrero had the go-ahead, two-run home run in the fifth inning. Zach Wilson added three hits, including a two-run homer of his own, Riccio Torrez had two hits and a solo home run and Matt Newman had two hits and an RBI.

Seth Blair went a career-high eight innings, allowing eight hits and two runs with four strikeouts to earn the win and move to 7-0 on the season. Mitchell Lambson pitched the ninth, striking out the side to finish off the win.

Washington took the early lead with two runs in the second. The Sun Devils got one back in the third when Austin Barnes scored on an error, and then Riccio Torrez's solo home run to left in the fourth tied the score.

Marrero's two-run blast came with two outs in the fifth and put ASU in front for the first time. They added two more in the sixth on RBI singles by Newman and Maggi, and then capped off the scoring with four runs in the eighth inning that included Wilson's two-run homer.

The game also saw the return of catcher Xorge Carrillo, who pinch-hit in the eighth. It was his first action since March 16, when he was injured against Cal State Fullerton.

The Sun Devils will continue their series with Washington on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
