Tempe, Ariz.- The ninth-ranked women's water polo team lost to No. 1 USC 14-5 April 10 at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe. Freshman center Shannon Haas paced the Sun Devils (15-11, 0-6 MPSF) with a quartet of goals.

ASU fell behind 2-0 in the opening quarter, but Haas found the back of the net less than a minute into the second frame to bring the Sun Devils to within a score. However, the Women of Troy answered with four straight goals to take a 6-1 lead at intermission.

After two goals by USC in the third frame, Haas scored at the five-minute mark to put ASU six back.

Down 11-2 to open the final quarter, Haas netted her third goal of the game in the opening minute to close the deficit to eight. Following a trio of goals by the Trojans, junior attacker Sarah Harris connected on a 5-meter penalty shot four minutes later for the Sun Devil's fourth goal of the game. Haas drained a 5-meter penalty shot with 17 seconds remaining in the match to bring the final score to, 14-5.

Sophomore goalie Dana Harvey made six saves in four quarters of play.

The Sun Devils close out their 2010 MPSF conference schedule April 17 at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe as they host No. 14 San Diego State at 11:30 a.m. (PST). ASU finishes the 2010 regular season the following day, April 18, with a home match against No. 15 Indiana at 10:00 a.m. (PST).
