The sixth-ranked women's water polo team lost their MPSF conference opener 13-6 to No. 4 UCLA March 13 in Los Angeles. The Sun Devils (11-6, 0-1) were led by two goals from sophomore attacker Kelsey White.

ASU fell behind by three goals in the first quarter, then added one in the second period to make the halftime score, 7-2. The Sun Devils rallied in the third frame and scored four goals, but the Bruins countered with four goals of their own in the final quarter to put ASU away.

Four Sun Devils recorded a goal in the game, including freshman center Shannon Haas, junior attackers Sarah Harris and Lynlee Smith, and senior center Kari Walsh. Freshman goalie Amanda Young collected five saves and sophomore Dana Harvey made one.

The Sun Devils next match is against Long Beach St. March 14 at 12 p.m. (PST) in Long Beach, Calif.
