The sixth-ranked women's water polo team defeated Long Beach St. 8-5 March 14 in Long Beach, Calif. It is the sixth win in seven games for the Sun Devils (12-6, 0-1).
After trading goals in the first period, ASU scored two in both the second and third quarters to stretch their lead to two. The Sun Devils added three goals in the final frame to put the 49ers away, 8-5.
Senior Bonnie Miles and junior center Nikki Unbehaun each collected a pair of the goals in the win. Sophomore goalie Dana Harvey recorded five saves, while freshman Amanda Young made two.
In their final road trip of the regular season, the Sun Devils head to northern California next week to battle a pair of MPSF conference foes. ASU will begin the weekend March 20 against No. 7 San Jose State at 12:00 p.m. (PST) in San Jose, then travel to Stanford for a match vs. No. 2 Stanford at 12:00 p.m. (PST) in Palo Alto, Calif.
