The sixth-ranked women's water polo team defeated No. 10 CS Northridge 10-8 March 6 in the first game of the Cal Lutheran Invitational in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Sun Devils are now 7-5 overall and 0-0 in MPSF conference play.
ASU scored a pair of goals in the first quarter and took a 6-4 lead into halftime. They came out of intermission with three goals in the third frame before sealing the victory with a goal in the fourth.
Junior attacker Sarah Harris paced the offense with two goals and an assist, and won all four sprints she participated in. Freshman center Shannon Haas recorded a pair of goals and junior attacker Lynlee Smith added a goal and an assist. Freshman goalie Amanda Young collected 11 saves in her third consecutive complete game defending the net.
The Sun Devils' next game is at 9:45 a.m. (PST) March 6 against No. 19 CS East Bay at Samuelson Aquatic Center in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
